Chittagong University is a public university located in the suburb of Hathazari, Chittagong district, Bangladesh. The university was founded in 1966. The campus is located 22 km north of the city of Chittagong. The University of Chittagong is surrounded by hills and crossed by a brook which this university a famous tourist destination across the country.It is a multidisciplinary research university made​​. The university is among the top public and private universities of Bangladesh. It is currently the third largest university in Bangladesh with more than 20,000 students and nearly 800 teachers.

Degrees offered

It offers four year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and 1 year Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degrees under the Faculty of Business Administration, four year Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and 1-year Master of Social Sciences (MSS), under the Faculty of Social Sciences, 4 year Bachelor of Arts (BA) and 1-year Master of Arts (MA) degrees under the Faculty of Arts, 4 years old and 1 year LLB LLM law under study. The university also offers two years of MS, MPhil two years and has been this year (2013). Actively 3 years of PhD engineering faculty research.The It consists of two departments.It is offering BSc (Eng) in Applied Physics Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science.
Chittagong University is the pioneer in offering four-year BBA, BSc (Hons) in forestry, environmental sciences, marine sciences and Bangladesh. CU is the first university in the Indian subcontinent, which BBA program began. The university is also famous for its Law School. Graduates in Law, University of Chittagong have already made their effectiveness in various examinations, such as the revision of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), the Bar Exam, BCS research, testing and many other recruiting firms proved. CU School of Law is considered the best setting of the law among students of Bangladesh.
Due to the increasing demand for its MBA, in February 2012, the authority of the university began offering another MBA program in the context of a newly established business wing namely Business Studies Center (CBS). Faculty of Business Administration of the AU launched the Center of Business Studies (CBS) in Chittagong City campus as a center for allied professionals. CBS Evening MBA program offers two years for graduates of different disciplines. University Grant Commission (UGC) Academic Council and the Syndicate team have already agreed to the CBS, which began to be. A center of excellence in February 2012 In 2011-12 session, CU opened three new departments, namely Applied and Environmental Chemistry, Pharmacy and the Persian language.
