The university was established on March 24, 2005 and started its academic activities on June 22, 2006 . NSTU actually belongs to four tracks of pure science , which can contribute to the country and the nation , and globally. The subjects Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering ( CSTE ) , Pharmacy , Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering ( ACCE ) , Fisheries and Marine Sciences ( FIMS ) at the opening of this university.Now more than 14 departments offer degrees grades. First four departments are also offering graduate in their respective fields .
Library is well furnished NSTU with about 10,000 books and about 1,000 national and international journals . Main feature of this library is the library online . The construction is not yet completed . When full bloom began , students and other persons registered to be able to publish in the library over the Internet, and books to the university can also read the books . Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University was established as an institute of Agricultural Extension Training (AETI) a three-year degree granting in agriculture. The AETI was later upgraded to Hajee Mohammad Danesh Agricultural College, in 1988 with a membership of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Then, the college became the state of a change of name of the university as Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, on April 8, 2002.
