Bangladesh Textile University is the only university in Bangladesh specializing in textiles. It meets the needs of the textile engineering and technology in Bangladesh and around the world.
During the British colonial rule in 1921 a weaving school in Narinda, Dhaka to textile technical education, offering craft level courses. Established He was named East Bengal Textile Institute, which has been upgraded to offer diploma courses in textile technology and renamed East Pakistan Textile Institute in 1950. In 1960, the Institute moved to its present campus in Tejgaon Industrial Area. In 1978, the Institute launched a bachelor's degree in textile technology four years of affiliation with the University of Dhaka and was renamed College of Textile Technology. It was declared as a university in 2010 to an act called Bangladesh University of Textile Act pass and inaugurated on March 15, 2011.

Admission Procedure and Entry Requirement
For Undergraduate courses
Admission to Bangladesh University of Textiles is very competitive and have high academic performance in SSC and HSC level. The selection of students for admission is made through admission test of 200 marks and considering GPA of SSC and HSC (details in note admission). Students have the opportunity to participate on the basis of merit. AdmissionThe entry requirements for admission test are:
Students must Bangladesh by birth or legal immigration.
SSC or equivalent exam passed in Science group and must be obtained (without fourth subject) of a Board of Education and Higher Secondary School. 4.00
HSC or equivalent exam passed from Science group study and obtain 4.00 (without fourth subject) and at least 13:00 GP total, but individually not below 3.50 degrees in physics, chemistry and mathematics.
For graduate courses (Master Textile)
(Masters in Textile Engineering) Admission started from the session 2012-13 Bangladesh University of Textiles, which is also very competitive and has at least a first class B. Sc in Textile Engineering from any recognized university (public / private). The selection of students for admission is made through admission test of 100 characters (details in note admission). Graduate (MBA in Textile) admission started from the session 2012-13 Bangladesh University of Textiles, which is also very competitive and has at least a first class B. Sc in Textile Engineering from any recognized university (public / private) with a minimum of nine (9) points by SSC to M.Sc. Course and medium of instruction
The academic session begins July 1 and ends on June 30. The official language is English.
Admission of foreign students
Foreign students must apply to the Ministry of Education, Government. Bangladesh by the Bangladesh embassy in their own country.
