Jahangirnagar University , Admission

Jahangirnagar University is a university in Bangladesh, located in Savar Upazila.It is a purely residential college.

The university was founded in 1970 by the Government of Pakistan for the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance, 1970. During the first two years, worked as a project. The first director, Professor Mafiz Uddin Ahmad (Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Illinois, Chicago) function occurred September 24, 1970. The first group of students, a total of 150 enrolled in four departments: Economics, Geography, Mathematics and Statistics. The official opening was postponed until January 12, 1971 when the university was launched by Admiral SM Ahsan, the Chancellor.

After the independence of Bangladesh, the university was renamed Jahangirnagar University by Jahangirnagar University Act, 1973.

In 2010 the university had a total of 10,500 students, 672 teachers, 206 employees and 1,200 employees. Dr M Anwar Hossain is the Vice-Chancellor (May 18, 2012) of the University.

The cultural activities of Jahangirnagar University found predominantly in Muktomacha. There is an auditorium for the supply of cultural activities. Many organizations such as Dhoni, JUDO, JAC, MONON regular cultural activities. Also in the drama scene off. Besides these, the various cultural programs on occasions like the Bengali New Year's Day, Victory Day, Independence Day, the day of the tongue movement, etc. held by students from different departments or divisions.
