Bangladesh Open University Admission

It was felt the need for Bangladesh Open University long ago. The history of distance education in Bangladesh dates back to 1956, when the Board of Education the responsibility for distribution of 200 radio receivers was assigned. Educational This led to the creation of an audio-visual Cell and later the Audio-Visual Education Centre (AVEC in 1962). There were no new developments in distance education until 1971.

After the independence of Bangladesh was faced with the challenge of meeting the educational needs of the media. To meet this challenge the need for a new form of education are considered in general. In the aftermath of that feeling, the School Broadcasting Pilot Project (SBP) released in 1978. Later in 1983, the project was transformed into National Institute of Media and Technology Education (NIEMT).

NIEMT was later replaced by the Bangladesh Institute of Distance Education (Bide) in 1985. Besides the production of audiovisual material, Bide offered the Bachelor of Education (B Ed) program in the distance mode. The success of Bide encouraged policy makers to a great plan for the establishment of an open university to take.
